Happy Valentine's Day!
Posted 2/11/20

Dear Fairburn Families,

I hope you and your family will enjoy Valentine’s Day! FAB will sell Valigrams before school in the MPR daily through this Thursday. Fairburn students can show their affection and appreciation by sending special Valentines messages and small gifts to their friends, teachers and Fairburn staff. Parents are also invited to join in the fun and send a Gram to their kid(s)! We’ve sent home and emailed a copy of the Valentines Grams Form, which you can cut into four Grams and fill out in advance (we will also have forms at school to fill out).  Bring completed Gram forms to the MPR before school starting on February 10 and choose from a variety of small gifts (priced from $2 to $5). FAB will deliver the messages and gifts on Friday, Feb 14. We have limited supplies so come early!

If you missed my Coffee with the Principal last Friday, you missed a great presentation from Justin Frank about “Keeping your Child Inline, Online”. Here is his presentation: https://prezi.com/xkjhcnit8bsr/copy-of-social-media-and-you/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy.  Mr. Frank will be back to Fairburn on March 2 to present online safety information to students in grades 2- 5.

Shortly your child’s teacher will be making appointments for our upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences which will take place the March 2-6. During that week of Conferences, we have Minimum Days on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with dismissal at 12:30 PM. Tuesday will dismiss at 1:30 PM.

School will be closed this coming Monday, February 17, in honor of Presidents’ Day.

HAVE YOU BEEN CAUGHT?  LAST NIGHT IS FEB. 18TH

Spread the love of reading…The Read-a-Thon is a wonderful way for your child to talk about what they are reading, and a great time for your immediate family and friends to plan literacy adventures together. Thanks to our AMAZING Fairburn families and Fairburn Staff, we have caught

almost ALL the Fairburn kids who signed up reading!!!!!!

BUT we want to catch EVERYONE!!!!We still have one more night of catching kids; February 18th. and we love

catching Fairburn students reading their favorite books in the comfort of their own homes! Have a wonderful time going to the library, selecting books with your child and most importantly, enjoying lots of family reading time together. It’s guaranteed to be a great month of literacy. Our 4th & 5th grade Pajama Dress-up day will be Wed., 2-19.

Spring Auction

Please keep our Spring Auction (March 27-April 3) in mind as you run errands in the coming weeks! Have a few copies of the solicitation letter and form (download at we-are-fab.com) in your pocket or purse so you have them handy when you check with business you frequent to see if they would be interested in supporting Fairburn. We need each family to solicit at least one item so we are counting on YOUR help.  Place donated items in the Black FAB Auction Box in the school office. No physical items please—only certificates or gift cards.

And we are still in need of volunteers to help with the backend work. Please sign up at we-are-fab.com/volunteer.

Questions?  Get in touch with the Auction Team: fairburn.auction@gmail.com.

Valentines Grams

Valentines Grams sale ends tomorrow (Thursday)!  Stop by the Mulit-purpose Room at morning drop-off if you are still interested in sending some V-Grams.  Gifts range in price from $1 to $5. FAB will deliver the messages and gifts on Friday, February 14.

Old T-shirts Needed

Ms. Kathleen Gaudet will be starting a school mural project this Thursday with grades 2-5. We are in need of adult T-shirts (mostly mediums but a few larges too) for students to wear while painting with acrylic paints. If you have old shirts you are no longer using please bring them to the school office by this Thursday, February 13, and leave them in the T-shirt donation box.

Banners

The high winds have been a challenge for our poor banners these past few weeks. We think we’ve gotten them all up again but if you don’t see yours on the fence, please email Alissa Mafrice (amafrice@gmail.com).

Art Night

Fairburn’s fourth annual Art Night will be held on Thursday, April 30.  We are looking for volunteers to lead approximately 15 workshops. There are typically 12-15 students per workshop and FAB will reimburse for art supplies. Please let Beth Stromborg or Jacqui Cohen (Bstromborg@gmail.comjaqnc@yahoo.com) know if you have an idea for a workshop you would like to lead this year. There will be a planning meeting in the next month or so to discuss plans in more detail.
