Prospective Parents of Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten (TK) for next school year - our first school prospective parent tour will be held THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10 at 8:30 AM.  If you are interested in a spot at our National Blue Ribbon School for the 2020 school year - it is important that you attend a tour. Please meet in the school Library.

Dear Fairburn Families,

Thanks to the more than 100 parents that joined me at my first Coffee with The Principal on Friday.  It was great to hear from all of you! Thanks for the tremendous response last Wednesday’s Walk or Bike to school day! Fairburn families stepped up!  Also thanks for all of the families that baked items for the bake sale.

This is a reminder that school is closed Wednesday, October 9.

Attention 5thgrade parents, the Middle School Choices Meeting will be held this Friday, October 11 at 8:30 am. Fifth grade students will be in attendance to freely ask questions about middle school.  We have invited the following schools to attend, Emerson, Palms MS, Revere and Walter Reed Middle School. Parents are encouraged to attend.  Parents from younger grades are welcome, but the presentation will not be as applicable to your child.

Thursday, October 14th at 8:15 am join Ms. Patterson, for our ELAC meeting. We will be discussing the District Master Plan and student progress, and the path to reclassification.  All English Language Learner Families are invited. Your voice is important to us.

We will practice our school’s response to a major Earthquake in our annual SHAKE Earthquake Drill on Monday, October 14 at 10:15 AM.  Our school staff will simulate a response to a large earthquake. Students will Duck, Cover and Hold, then evacuate to the play yard, then our staff will take on their roles to ensure that all children and staff are accounted for and safe following the quake. We have 72 hours of emergency supplies, food and water for the whole school on our campus.  Your child will be safe here until you, or a person identified on your emergency card can get up to school to pick up your child.  In case of an earthquake or any other emergency where you wish to pick up your child, please come to the REQUEST GATE on Westholme Ave. to ask for your child.

On Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 8:15 am Fairburn is hosting our fall GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) Parentmeeting.  Please join us as we discuss our 2019-20 GATE program with topics that include, GATE Identification, Enrichment Opportunities and School Choice.

Picture Day is coming on Thursday, October 17. Watch for information that will be coming home with your child.

Our school will participate in our second annual school-wide College and Career Day on Friday October 25th  Students will meet career professionals in their classrooms and all kids will participate in a Parade of College or Careers from 8:00 – 8:20 AM on the big yard. Parents are welcome to join us on the yard, just like every other morning. Students should come to school dressed in career choice attire or college apparel. Make a 8 ½’ x 11” sign that they can carry in the parade that states the name of their career choice.

I hope to see all of you on Saturday, October 26 for our FALL FESTIVAL from noon until 4:30 PM on the yardWe’ve got all kinds of exciting and amusing activities planned, from the Rocket Slide and Maze o’ Doom to Face Painting and the always-entertaining Velcro Wall. We are also actively seeking partners—families and businesses—who would like to sponsor a ride or activity at the Fall Festival. Pledge Drive Update

We have a classroom that has reached 100% participation! Thank you to the parents of students in Ann Chen’s second grade class (Room 4). Your commitment and generosity will greatly benefit our children and are what help to make Fairburn such a rich and rewarding experience. A few other classes are closing in on an ice cream party and bonus recess so keep those pledges coming!  We are at 70.5% participation as of Saturday, October 5. Here’s an update of how your class is doing. Please pledge now if you haven’t already—we are counting on ALL Fairburn families to contribute! Visit
