Young Authors Day Recap and Upcoming Sunday Facelift
Posted 9/10/19

Dear Fairburn Families,

Thanks to everyone that helped out and attended last Thursday night’s Taste of Fairburn welcome event!  It was so great seeing so many families at the event.  Thanks to FAB for a fun evening! Kudos to Martha Gonzalez for organizing this community building event!

On Monday all Fairburn students participated in Young Authors Day.  Karina, the Mime performed in our first Assembly of the year supported by FAB.  This year we will add nine such assemblies to our educational program.  The students were enthralled with Karina as she shared her mime skills while highlighting the skill of story writing.

Students learned about story elements person, place, problem and solution.  Following the morning presentation, students returned to class and composed stories that Karina performed for the whole school in the afternoon.

Thank you FAB for funding, and assembly coordinator Mou Chatterjee for organizing this exciting program to enrich all of the students’ education.

FAIRBURN FACELIFT

Plan now to attend the first – FAIRBURN FACELIFT – campus beautification day THIS Sunday, September 15 from 10am – 2pmAutumn is almost upon us as we settle in for a great new academic year. Please join friends, new and old, for our bi-annual Fairburn Facelift Sunday as we refresh those dusty classrooms, sweep up dry leaves, collect debris, sling a bit of paint and generally help breathe new life into the campus. The whole family is welcome to join!

Volunteers are needed for our first Fairburn Facelift (beautification day) of the year to help improve school grounds, foster a sense of pride in our school and build community!  Our goal is to do yard work which includes gardening, raking, removing weeds, and collecting trash. We will also be painting the yard room number box colorful circles, touching up the mural in the K yard, and prepping the MPR for painting. We will take any time you can give -- whether it's just an hour or a couple of hours -- we greatly appreciate your help. We need all the help we can get!

Please bring garden gloves and hand weeding tools, paint brushes and small disposable containers for paint, if they are readily available.

If you are coming with your children, please sign up for gardening and your children can help.  Children must be supervised by their parents at all times.  Don't forget water, sunscreen, and a snack.  Enter through the parking lot gate on Rochester Ave.

I look forward to seeing lots of you up here on Sunday! Get your golden bee buck!
