Turn off TV Tuesdays Starts Next Tuesday

Turn of TV Tuesday starts next Tuesday and will continue each Tuesday in February.  Reading Spies (parent and teacher volunteers) will conduct RANDOM surprise visits to catch SOME of the student agents reading at home. (A READING RAID)  With your permission, your child has a CHANCE of being one of those surprise visits!  If you would like to commit to reading at home on Tuesdays between 6:45-7:45pm, download and fill out the Permission Form and return it to your child’s teacher by THIS FRIDAY, February 3, 2012.  NO LATE SLIPS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Read-a-thon is almost here!

Spread the love of reading...

The Read-a-Thon is a wonderful way for your children to talk about what they are reading, and a great time for your immediate family and friends to plan literacy adventures together.

All that you ever want to know, and all the forms that you will ever need have been sent home today with your child.

  • Kindergarten / 1st grade Pajama Dress-up day will be Wednesday, 2/8
  • 2nd-3rd grade Pajama Dress-up day will be Wednesday, 2/15
  • 4th-5th grade Pajama Dress-up day will be Wednesday, 2/22

The Four Tuesdays:

2/7, 2/14, 2/21 and 2/28 are the famous "Turn Off TV Tuesday" nights.  Please make sure that you turn in your permission slip form by this Friday, 2/3 in order for your child to participate.

We love catching Fairburn students reading their favorite books in the comfort of their own homes! Have a wonderful time going to the library, selecting books with your child, and most importantly - enjoying lots of family reading time together.  It's guaranteed to be a great month of literacy, while helping to support the many programs that make Fairburn shine!

Sincerely,

Fairburn Youth Association, on behalf of Mrs. Plukas and the Readathon
